Pull the spark plug and look at its tip. A plug that's wet with fuel suggests the engine is getting fuel but not igniting it — a spark problem. A fouled or wrongly gapped plug is an easy first fix
Heavy black carbon buildup on the plug tip is common on small two-stroke engines, especially if the fuel mix ratio has been slightly off or the trimmer has been run mostly at idle. A plug in that condition can be cleaned with a wire brush, but a new plug is cheap enough that replacing it outright is usually the faster and more reliable fix.
